Well, November is here, for the most part, the motocross,
cross-country, and harescramble seasons are over for the year.
In this column I wanted to personally thank every promoter for
keeping ATV Racing alive and growing bigger than ever.
All terrain vehicle sales at an all time high right now, however
the land to ride them on is getting smaller.
This makes it even harder to hold a national event let alone a
small local one.
Racer Productions especially deserves a huge pat on the back.
Not only do they run and set up the best series out there- The
GNCC’s, but they are responsible for holding many other great events.
They represent and support our sport more than any other group that
I know of. I can’t speak for
the many other series that they hold other than the GNCC’s.
Not only are they a very large company responsible for the gate,
sign up, security, and the track, but I feel like we are all part of a
large family.
GNCC’s were started by Dave & Rita Coombs in the late 70’s
as the Wiseco 100 Miler Series.
As many know, the family is still heavily involved with the
series! They produced many events that are a legend still to this day like
the Blackwater 100. The track
gained infamy because it consisted of approximately two 20+ mile loops
with 93 river crossings through the mountains of Another track that has been in the series for quite some time is the Ironman. The Ironman is held in memory for 2x ATV Pro Champ Bob Sloan.
Bob Sloan tragically died in 1994 racing at the Starvation
point GNCC round in WV. He was
a native of
I also would like to congratulate Racer Productions for being
nominated for the 2006 ATVA Organizer of the year!
Not only is the organization nominated, but many of the fellow
racers of the GNCC and GNC series have also been nominated for there
outstanding achievements throughout the year!
Good luck to everyone and I wish you all the best! Have fun and I’ll see you at the GNCC Banquet later this
month!
